| I would not want to reduce the funding for student's education but I believe that to the extent that the administrator's salaries are excessively high or there is too much money being invested in college sports and sports venues, that these are viable places to cut funding from public universities, most specifically at U.Conn. at Storrs. | |||
| I believe that there are federal monies available for Transportation/Infrastructure that can be used to increase spending on infrastructure without overly burdening the State. I believe that there are monies which can be recouped at the State level from the higher education but would like to see the cost of loans decreased substantially. I would also like to provide more opportunity for job training for the trades. | |||

We need to reduce prison populations and put in to place the types of programs which enable those who have been incarcerated to become active, contributing members of society who are less likely to re-offend upon release. This means including education, mental health and substance abuse treatment in prisons at a greater level. Enforcement of federal immigration laws by local and state police would amount to an unfunded mandate putting an additional burden upon local law enforcement agencies. | |||

I would support some reduction of government regulations on the private sector only to the extent that it does not put employee safety at risk nor would it permit greater environmental damage. The insurance industry is making huge profits at the cost of the patients and the physicians who deliver the care. The health insurance industry needs reform and regulation and the accessibility of affordable healthcare must be addressed. | |||
